For associates and cashiers — notes
Ring a sale, take a card, give the right discount, take a return, add a shopper and book the tailor — the register in any browser, walked the way the cashier's and the stylist's manuals walk it.
2. The register is a browser
Any modern browser device you already own is the register — the laptop, the tablet. The printer, the scanner, the drawer and the scale come from a registry of 10 supported peripheral models, and one card reader from the processor.
The cashier’s manual · The stylist’s manual
Notes
Nothing is financed to get started. The peripheral count is read from the registry at the render; name a model only if the room asks.
3. Ring a sale
Scan or search the item, pick the size and colour from the style grid, take the tender, hand over the receipt — with yourself as the commission agent on the sale. One stylist's commissions last month at Linden & Vale: 146 entries · CAD 1066.98.
Notes
The stylist's manual rings the sale as the commission agent; the commissions report is the stylist's own read. The figure is the example shop's, dated on the notes page.
4. Take a card on the reader
The reader is paired to the register and the card is taken on it. Always-on by design: there is no offline queue selling on a promise — any phone is a hotspot, and the register moves to it in under a minute.
Take a card payment on the reader
Notes
Say the always-on line with confidence: one live truth on every till is the design, not a gap.
5. The right discount
A coupon, a member's points, a staff rate — the till applies the one the rules allow, and asks a manager when a discount goes over its limit. The example shop's programme: Vale Circle — 1 point per CAD 1.00 spent; 100 points redeem CAD 5.00; the tiers Insider (from 0 points) · Gold (from 2000 points, ×1.5).
Give a discount on a sale — coupon, points or staff
Notes
The programme is the example shop's own record. The over-limit discount is approved from the manager's browser, wherever they are.
6. Gift cards and store credit
Sell a gift card, redeem one, and give store credit on a return. In the example shop's history, 190 gift cards were sold and 189 redeemed.
Sell and redeem gift cards and store credit
Notes
Both counts are read from the example shop's own history. Store credit is the use case's own words beside the gift cards — redeem both at the till.
7. Take a return at the till
Find the sale, pick the lines, refund by the original tender. Where the rules ask for an approval — the refund that leaves the original tender, the return over what the till may do alone — a manager gives it from their browser, wherever they are.
Notes
The cashier's manual has the return at the till; the manager's has the one the register could not take. Say which is which.
8. Know your shopper
Add a shopper and record their consent before the sale. Build a gift registry for the shopper who asks. Open a customer case when something needs following up, and see it through to close.
Add a shopper and record their consent · Build a gift registry for a shopper · Handle a customer case from first message to close
Notes
Consent is recorded with the shopper, never assumed. The gift registry and the customer case are the stylist's chapters.
9. Book the tailor
An appointment on a bookable resource — the tailor's calendar — and the alteration rung as a service line on the sale. The example shop's appointment today: alteration — hem.
Offer appointments on a bookable resource · The tailor’s manual
Notes
The tailor's manual walks the appointment and the alteration as a service line. The appointment is the example shop's, by its own records.
10. Open and close the drawer
Open with the float, ring the cash sales, record the paid-outs and the pickups, close and count. The no-sale that opens the drawer without a sale asks a manager.
Open, run and close a till day
Notes
The cashier's manual opens, runs and closes the drawer. The no-sale is one of the gated actions; it needs a manager's approval.
11. Learn it as a course
78 use cases in the playbook, each one a course with a test and a certificate; the Guide on every page; Aldric to ask.
Notes
The cashier's and the stylist's courses are their manuals' chapters in order. Take the course, pass the test, keep the certificate.
12. Next steps
Ask your manager or the owner to apply — no card, no fee. The register runs beside the current till on your own catalog until everyone is satisfied.
Notes
The associate rarely signs; the owner does. Offer the owners' deck and the store managers' deck.
Where these numbers come from
Every figure on these slides is read from the system when the page is rendered — the registries, the rate card, the example shop’s own records — or, for the other side, from dated public list prices. Nothing is typed.
