Honest answers
The questions a shop owner asks first, answered plainly.
What if the internet drops?
We have no offline mode. We have a phone. A sale on AlmondTill is a real authorization or it is not a sale: we never queue card payments on a device and find out days later whether you were paid. One truth, always — stock, prices, promotions, loyalty and approvals are the same on every till at every second.
When the shop's line fails:
- A phone. Any staff phone becomes the hotspot; the register is a browser, so it reconnects in under a minute with nothing to install.
- A failover router. A one-time purchase, about a receipt printer's price; cellular; it switches on its own and the till never notices.
- A second link for larger sites. A satellite or a second provider on a dual-WAN router.
- A printed card by the till. Turn on the hotspot. No signal anywhere? Take cash, or write the card slip and key it in when you are back.
- The register tells you what is wrong. Connectivity diagnostics, not a spinning wheel; the moment the link returns, the till is exactly where it was.
The honest limit: we publish no uptime number, and a power cut takes the router, the lights and the drawer with it on every system. The one thing we will not do is queue an unauthorized card sale and hand you the risk.
What do I need at the counter?
Any device with a browser. The register is a browser point of sale inside the back office: pair a device, open the till, sell, take cash and card, handle returns, close the till. Card payments run through Stripe, integrated out of the box.
The hardware the registry knows today, by what it does:
- Barcode scanners — Zebra DS2208 · Zebra DS2278
- Receipt printer — Epson TM-T88VII
- Label printer — Zebra ZD421
- Customer display — Logic Controls LD9900
- Cash drawer — APG Vasario 1616
- Scale — Mettler Toledo Ariva-S
- Card readers — Stripe Reader M2 · Stripe Reader S700 · Stripe Reader S710
Coming, as it ships. Point of sale on Stripe's smart readers, and the register as native apps on Android, iPhone, and iPad — the browser register is live today. The smart readers are already in the registry; the counter flow on them is what is coming. What's live says the day it changes.
What about my accountant?
AlmondTill/G3N does not replace your accounting software, and it isn't trying to. It keeps the complete operational record behind your retail business: every sale, stock move, tender and tax fact, permanently. Your accountant's general ledger stays theirs — everything they need exports through the open API, and every list, grid and record downloads as a file, CSV or JSON. Richer feeds into the tools you already use are coming; we claim no connection until it ships.
Who are you?
AlmondTill is built by the people behind Microhouse Systems, who have built point-of-sale, retail, wholesale and ERP systems since 1993. G3N is the third generation of the platform — who we are, in full.
How is my data protected?
In the privacy page's own words. The covenant: your data is yours — we do not sell it, share it beyond the subprocessors that run the service, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. The permanent log: every change an event on an append-only log, with who made it and when. The strict door: bad data is refused at the door with a clear, auditable reason. Sealed sessions: encryption in transit and at rest; passwords hashed with Argon2id; sessions sealed in HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Strict cookies; tenant isolation at the record level. The Privacy Policy carries the whole of it.
